Roof inspections and insurance
For homeowner policies, Florida law says an insurer may not refuse or non-renew solely because of the age of a roof under 15 years old. For roofs 15 years or older, the insurer must let you get an inspection by an authorized inspector (at your cost) before requiring replacement — and if it shows at least 5 years of useful life left, it can't refuse solely because of age. Roofing contractors are on the statute's list, but the inspector must be approved by your insurer, so ask your agent first. Florida roof age and insurance
Wind mitigation inspections (form OIR-B1-1802) are a separate report done by qualified inspectors. See wind mitigation.
