Tile roofs in Miami-Dade
Concrete and clay tile is everywhere in South Florida for good reason: it's durable, it handles sun and it fits the look of the neighborhood.
Good to know
- Tile is heavy. The structure has to be suitable for it, which matters if you're switching from shingle.
- In a tile roof the underlayment does much of the waterproofing — it's often what wears out first, not the tile.
- Tiles are attached with NOA-approved adhesive or fastening systems for the HVHZ.
- Broken tiles can often be replaced individually if matching tile is available.
Cost
Published 2026 South Florida ranges for installed tile run about $10.50–$21 per square foot (RoofVista, Republic, Roof Observations) — published ranges, not our prices. Your price depends on size, pitch, profile and deck condition. Tile vs. shingle vs. metal roof cost in South Florida

Frequently asked questions
How long does a tile roof last in Florida?
Published South Florida estimates commonly range from about 25 to 50 years; the underlayment may need replacing sooner than the tile.
Can I walk on my tile roof?
Please don't — tiles crack under foot traffic. Let a roofer do it.
