How to Check a Florida Roofer's License

Go to MyFloridaLicense.com (Florida DBPR), choose Verify a License, and search by the contractor's name or license number. Confirm the license is current and active and is a roofing license (a Certified Roofing Contractor number starts with "CCC"), and that the business name matches the company you're hiring. Biscayne Legacy Group's license is CCC1337977. Look it up yourself.

Step by step

  1. Open the DBPR license search on MyFloridaLicense.com.
  2. Search by name or license number (ours: CCC1337977).
  3. Check the license type (Certified Roofing Contractor), that the status is current and active, and the name and qualifier.
  4. Look for any public complaints or discipline shown on the record.

Other things to verify

  • Proof of general liability insurance (we carry $1M general liability)
  • That the roofer will pull the permit under their own license (Roof Permits in Miami-Dade County)
  • A written contract with the scope, materials, NOAs and price

Red flags

  • Door-to-door "free roof" offers after a storm
  • Offers to waive or pay your deductible, or gifts for filing a claim (prohibited by §489.147, F.S.)
  • Asking you to sign over your claim or let them "handle" your insurer
  • No license number on the truck, contract or ads
